  • 1928

    My great uncle, M.D. Hall, aka “Uncle Doc”, was a motor oil salesman during the day, and formulated car care products in his garage at night.

  • 1930

    He started selling his products, and eventually left his sales job and established Hi-Lustre as a company due to the demand of his products.

  • 1935

    Uncle Doc works with chemists to refine his formulations, and begins advertising his products on the radio. He starts selling them in Texaco gas stations, Thrifty drug stores, and Sears.

  • 1947

    Doc moved the company out of his garage, and built his first manufacturing facility in Los Angeles.

  • 1959

    Uncle Doc offered my grandfather, Clay Wemmer, to move from Nebraska to Los Angeles to work with him in Hi-Lustre. This picture is right before they made the long drive.

  • 1965

    Clay becomes the new president of Hi-Lustre, and one of the first car care salesmen to put shelves in a van to sell prouducts out of.

  • 1972

    My dad, Randall Wemmer, starts working at Hi-Lustre, and makes upgrades to our manufacturing equipment, with custom mixing tanks.

  • 1985

    Randall Wemmer becomes President. He formulates new products, and grow the company even more.

  • 2011

    Randy develops Nano Carnauba Spray Wax, as is awarded the “Best in Show” Award at the SEMA show.

  • 2013

    My dad took me to many car and trade shows growing up.

  • 2020

    I start working full time at the company, learning everything about the business from my dad – formulations, manufacturing, and more!

Today

For over 90 years, our family has carried on Uncle Doc’s dream to produce the highest quality professional car polishes and waxes. We manufacture a complete line of high quality car care products for the professional and consumer markets. We specialize in custom polishes, waxes, compounds, ceramics, paint sealants, metal polishes, soaps, degreasers, cleaners, shampoos, and more. We also offer custom private label manufacturing services for select clients. We maintain a large inventory of finished products for immediate shipment to our network of independent distributors and professional users.
